Onboarding & Training Catering
Why Teams Use Superfine Kitchen for Onboarding and Training
An onboarding or training day has a fixed agenda and a room full of people who cannot leave. If lunch is twenty minutes late, the afternoon either starts late or starts with people hungry, which makes the caterer’s whole job simple to state: arrive when the agenda says, and be ready to eat. Superfine Kitchen prepares every order in its own kitchen and delivers it with our own drivers, so the HR or L&D coordinator has one team accountable for timing, from the kitchen to the conference room.
New employees are also the people least likely to speak up. Nobody on day one asks whether lunch is halal or whether the dressing has gluten. The meal has to answer those questions on its own. Every order includes vegan, gluten-free, halal, and keto options, individual meals are labeled with ingredients, dietary information, and allergens, and family-style platters carry dish identification cards.
- Live delivery updates. Dispatch updates and driver ETAs on the day, plus a day-of contact number, so the coordinator is not guessing where lunch is.
- Setup help. Our drivers help set up the food, so the coordinator is not unpacking boxes while the session starts.
- Menus that change. Rotating menus keep a standing program from feeling repetitive, and menus can be customized for larger events.
- Room to scale. The same kitchen handles a small team lunch and a campus of 2,000 people.
- Certified SF Green Business. Compostable packaging on every order and a reusable container program.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should you serve at a new hire onboarding lunch?
Superfine Kitchen recommends ordering for the new hire’s whole team rather than the new hire alone, so the first lunch is a shared meal instead of a solo one. Individually packaged meals suit a conference room or a desk, and family-style spreads suit groups of 15 or more. Globally inspired, chef-crafted meals built around a protein, a grain, and vegetables hold well at room temperature. Anything that needs assembly or active service takes attention away from the introductions.
How do you cater for new hires when their dietary needs are not known yet?
The most reliable approach is a caterer that covers every dietary category by default. Superfine Kitchen includes vegan, gluten-free, halal, and keto options on every order, labeled at the kitchen, so a new hire can read the label and eat without disclosing anything. Adding a dietary question to pre-boarding paperwork gives exact counts, but the order works without them. For allergens beyond the standard categories, contact the team before the order is placed.
How much notice does onboarding or training catering need?
Regular onboarding and training orders need 48 to 72 hours’ notice at Superfine Kitchen. Large or complex events, such as a company-wide orientation or a multi-day bootcamp, need five to seven days. Deliveries can be scheduled for any time of day, including early morning ahead of a 9am start. If a start date or headcount changes, the team can be reached at support@superfinekitchen.com or 415-552-5559, and changes are handled case by case.
What does onboarding and training catering cost?
Superfine Kitchen’s planning prices start at about $14.50 per person for individually packaged meals, run $16 to $17 for family-style buffets, and reach $22 to $23 for upgraded options. Final pricing depends on menu, headcount, service level, and delivery or setup needs, and each quote includes a per-person estimate. Driver setup is included in the Service and Delivery fee, so the quote covers the food arriving ready to serve.
How does recurring catering work for monthly new hire classes?
Superfine Kitchen sets up recurring programs once and runs them from there. One coordinator can manage the whole program through a single corporate account, and rotating menus keep a standing program varied. Meal programs are invoiced weekly with flexible terms and no long-term commitment. A company that starts a class on the first Monday of each month can place the schedule once and contact the team when class sizes or dates change.
